Its about Community
pass on the positive
Who we support and what we are trying to do
Karma has many meanings; one meaning simply translates to: “As you sow, so shall you reap.” Basically, do a good deed (action) and a good deed will be returned to you – sometimes many times over and in unexpected ways – a cause and effect relationship that is not always immediate or obvious but a great way of looking at things and how actions and intentions move in the world. Simply, kindness spreads kindness (careful though – this relationship can go the other way too).
So the Karma Barn is about spreading good karma (actions) and having those actions spread further by those who pay it forward into their communities. There have been some wonderful stories about how people have done this: paying for someone else’s groceries, volunteering or donating to a favoured charity. The karma is having a ripple effect in our community.
In December Frank teaches daily yoga in the spirit of the “12 Days of Christmas.” During this time, participants are invited to make a monetary contribution. In the early years proceeds went to the St. Margaret’s Bay Foodbank. Over $4,100 was raised over the first few years of the fundraising event.
New in 2021
A big thank you to all for participating in this year’s “12 Days of Christmas” yoga fundraising event!! A total of $5,000 was donated to charitable causes. Most of it went to Feed Nova Scotia, The St. Margaret’s Bay Foodbank and the Schizophrenia Society of NS followed by other charities of your choosing.
All the best to you and your families for a happy holiday and New Year.
Namaste,
Frank
